A Word About Us
The idea for this organization came about as a result of the many families and individuals that occasionally frequented the Queensborough Church of Christ seeking some kind of assistance - financial, food, clothing, transportation, etc. The lingering questions were always, “How can we help these people beyond what we do for them today? What can we do for them to lessen the possibility of these people finding themselves in this situation again? From those experiences grew a desire, to not only help people through their current crisis, but to also address the underlying problem that brought them to that place.
The Name
The name Macedonia House was taken from a vision that the Apostle Paul had at Troas of a man asking him to come over into Macedonia and “help us” (Acts 16:9). After having the vision, Paul immediately went to their aid and helped them address their spiritual needs. His compassion for those in need and readiness to help captures the essence of why Macedonia House was created. The idea of meeting the needs of people who, for whatever reason, find themselves in crisis and working to find a solution to prevent the event from recurring is the fundamental work of Macedonia House.
